The LMS uses the Dewey Decimal System in the library to ease access to books. At the end of each stack are the corresponding Dewey Numbers, color coded, with text to further indicate what can be found there. Additional signage is included in areas where there is a variety of topics within a Dewey range. (food, pets, farming, etc.)

The LMS has added signage throughout the library. It is used to break up sections and indicate what can be found on each shelf.
Signage is provided on the ends of the shelves, on top of the shelves, and in each larger section of Dewey, at the beginning of each section. (500, 600, 700, etc.)
The signage used in nonfiction includes images of what can be found in that section. Whenever possible, shelf labels are added for further clarification.
In Middle Grade Books in a Series, each book series is labeled, and the books are labeled in the order to be read. This was done by the LMS because students were unfamiliar with books in a series and didn't always know to start on the first book. When a student brings "Book 3" to the circulation desk, it now prompts a discussion about whether or not the student has read Book 1 or Book 2 yet. This has helped tremendously with reducing the number of chapter books being returned unread.
Fiction books and biographies are separated by signage indicating the first letter of the author or subject's first name.
